Crime: Manipulation - being part of the Council, even if not stated, Mel had always seen herself as its 'voice', mostly because she is masterful when it comes to politics; deals, briberies, manipulation (of both resources and information)- nothing was too much or out of her reach. She wanted to raise Piltover above everyone and everything, and along with Piltover, herself.

Background: Mel Medarda Wiki

Personality: Upon the first meeting, everyone could easily say that Mel Medarda was a bright young woman with an even brighter future ahead of her. Intelligent, high in ranks, open-minded, and ready to take on tasks and risks many wouldn't. Many people don't get a chance to look further than that and see just how far Mel Medarda is ready to go and get what she wants. She is a calculating, driven person who doesn't hold back from using any tactic to achieve what she has set for her goal.

After her mother "sent her away" (read banished) to Piltover, Mel vowed to rise in ranks and eventually got a seat at the table in Council chambers. She wanted the city she arrived in to prosper, grow, and move forward for her own benefit- to prove to herself, but mostly her mother, that she wasn't a 'weak link' of the Medarda family, and she would do anything to achieve it. Steadfast and precise in her plans, she negotiated around the experimentation and use of hextech. And when that turned out to be profitable, she slowly started wrapping one of the inventors around her fingers, manipulating him with her support, connection, and investors to further her own agenda.

With reach in many houses of Piltover, bringing gifts, sweet words, and soft manners, she's always managed to get whatever she wants, at the time that she wanted it. Her influence was so great that when Heimerdinger, a distinguished professor of the Academy and another Councilor, stood in the way of experimenting on hextech, Mel had enough support on her side to dismiss him and strip him of his role as a Councilor and Professor.

But Mel isn't emotionless, just extremely guarded as a person. Over time, she grew closer and closer to Jayce, seeing him as more than just a puppet on a string she could pull when she needed. They've become close, and Mel had to reluctantly admit to herself that she'd grown feelings for him.

As Piltover continued to grow under her watchful eye, she started caring for the town itself and the people in it. While tempted by the thought, she didn't allow hextech to be made into weapons, and when there was no other way, it was strictly restricted to people she could trust and she never allowed mass reproduction of it, out of fear for what it could do to Piltover especially after her mother arrived and inquired about it.

By nature, Mel is not a violent person. Even when it was discovered that Silco was the person behind most of the problems arising, Mel warned the Council to use all diplomatic resources before taking up violence. She would eventually agree to separate Piltover from Zaun, being the first from the council to do so, as it would avoid even more conflict and violence. Her leaning toward diplomacy and distaste for violence is one of the reasons why her mother Ambessa sees her as a liability.

Spoilers for S2
After Jinx's attack on the Council, Mel had to deal with considerable damage to Piltover, as well as the Council, or what was left of it. Her mother had made motions behind the scenes, and she was doing her best to damage control everything. Even if she weren't a leader, she was the voice of reason and forbade the use of hextech artillery in retaliation against Zaunites. She was using all possible resources she had at her disposal to corral and secure the city.

Unfortunately, Black Rose had managed to capture her after killing her assistant, and the city, under Caitlyn's and Ambessa's leadership, fell into what Mel was fighting against- the two declared martial law and an open fight against the people of Zaun. A question can be asked what would have happened if she wasn't gone.

While trapped, she showed perseverance, stubbornness, and refusal to be toyed with, lied and deceived. She made LeBlanc believe she took her side during their conversation but turned against her the first chance she got. Despite everything that happened to her, despite her mother turning against her in every possible way, Mel was, and still is, proud to be Medarda, and after politics in Piltover calmed down, she boarded the ship to return to her home in Noxus and take her seat as the ruler of the house and deal with Black Rose.

But before that- a small pitstop at Expiation.

Abilities:

  • Light Magic: Mel can bend light, create shields, whips, and bend it in a way she wants to use it. Her tattoos and eyes light up; she can bend light around herself to create Bioluminescence and unleash destructive waves.
  • Empath: Mel has been told by Leblanc to possess this expression of magic; as an empath Mel is attuned to the ethereal ( arcane ), and with her abilities she is able to sense others' inner selves and bend their magic. This would be toned down/disabled in the game.
  • Art of Diplomacy/Politics: Mel is an experienced politician and strategist, who knows how to pull the right strings and the right people to get the results she wants.
